Natércia Gaspar urges IPSS and "Santas Casas da Misericórdia" to fight for social intervention that "leaves no one behind"

The Regional Director for Social Solidarity urged Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) and "Santas Casas da Misericórdia," in conjunction with the Regional Government, to "fight for social intervention" that "leaves no one behind."

Natércia Gaspar spoke at the swear-in ceremony of the managing bodies of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of São Roque do Pico, which she attended on behalf of the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity. The government official highlighted the importance of social solidarity and considered it to be "a cause of the people for people" in which everyone gives their best and considers sharing the greatest of rewards."

"This is a cause that reaches all people, from youngsters to the elderly and their families as well," stressed the government official.

For Natércia Gaspar, the current situation requires "the best from each of us and our ability to dream and to believe that we can fight against adversity and strive for the excellence of the service we provide to those in need."
According to the Regional Director, this "challenge" is an act of courage and a testimony for society. It is an evidence of the fight for justice, equality, solidarity and the values that should be put into practice among those in need."

With regard to the new managing bodies of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of São Roque do Pico, Natércia Gaspar stressed that they bring "renewal as well as a spirit of sacrifice, dedication, commitment, selflessness and the capacity to pursue the mission entrusted to the 'Santa Casa' and the entire community in the municipality of São Roque."

Natércia Gaspar also emphasised the work carried out by the previous board, praising the "commitment and dedication of all members for the work done and the establishment of foundations for a better service and better conditions for those who collaborate with this institution."

The "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of São Roque do Pico provides support to over 250 people. This institution employs 35 people distributed across five areas.
