The Regional Director for Health signed in Ponta Delgada on Friday a protocol with the Director General of Health with the aim of ensuring the technical support of the Department of Quality in Health in the accreditation of health centres in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The document signed by Sofia Duarte and Francisco George stipulates the rules to meet the goals intended with the implementation of the accreditation programme by Regional Health Service.

The Department of Quality in Health will be responsible for providing the Regional Directorate for Health with all the necessary information and general training on the accreditation standards and steps in order to effectively support health units.

In turn, the Regional Directorate for Health is committed to annually organise a series of training initiatives in the area of accreditation, related to the requirements for accreditation, which will provide health professionals working at unit undergoing the accreditation process with the possibility of acquiring the necessary training for their professional development.

The Regional Directorate for Health will send to the Department of Quality in Health a list containing the health units or services that wish to start the accreditation process with the respective priorities.
