Angra do Heroísmo ,  June 17, 2014

Photographs by Nuno Sá and sculptures by Baltazar Pinheiro on display at Angra do Heroísmo Museum

On June 19, the Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, will open the exhibitions "Nuno Sá | Wildlife Photography" and "Pedra-Ilha | Esculturas" by Baltazar Pinheiro that will be open to the public during the summer.

"Oasis by Nuno Sá | Wildlife Photography" is photography exhibition consisting of large format underwater photographs that will be presented on lighted display frames at the Chapter Room and at the yard of Nossa Senhora da Guia Church. It will provide a unique experience in discovering the richness and biodiversity of the Azores.

Nuno Sá is a marine wild life photographer, who has been distinguished in some of the major international competitions on nature photography.

He is the author of award-winning images in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the biggest and most prestigious contest Wildlife photography worldwide. He also collaborates with National Geographic as well as with other national and international publications.

The "Pedra-Ilha | Esculturas" exhibition will be on display at the Dacosta Room. It comprises 17 sculptures; some of which are made from volcanic materials.

A native of Terceira, Baltazar Pinheiro began his artistic career in a beginner's course on ceramics under the guidance of artist Renato Costa e Silva at "Casa do Sal" in Angra do Heroísmo. He studied sculpture at Gothenburg Art College in Sweden, where he currently lives.
