The deadline for the submission of applications to the internal and external teaching in the Autonomous Region of the Azores for the school year 2016/2017 starts Thursday, January 28, at 12 AM and ends on February 11.

The application will fill 110 corresponding vacancies that correspond to the permanent needs of the regional public education system. The vacancies to be provided under this teaching application per school and group of recruitment are listed the opening notice, published in the Public Employment Exchange - Azores.

The document also foresees some specific situations of vacancies that will not open. This is applicable to the cases when the posts filled already exceed the actual needs of schools.

Applications are made, as usual, through the electronic form available at http://concursopessoaldocente.azores.gov.pt address or at the portal of the Regional Government of the Azores (www.azores.gov.pt) and the Education portal (www.edu.azores.gov.pt).

In order to submit their applications online, applicants should use the information provided in previous application procedures carried out by the Regional Directorate for Education (email address and access password). Teachers applying for the first time that do not have access information must register as new users.

The application validation statement and the respective documents should be also submitted via the electronic form access.

 For that purpose, applicants will have two working days after the deadline for submission of applications.

The internal teaching application is open to teachers attached to the school staff of regional education system who wish to be transferred to the staff of another within the same group of recruitment or who wish to change their group of recruitment.

In turn the external teaching application is open is open to individuals who hold professional qualifications for the practice of teaching in the groups of recruitment where they are applying for, with or without pre-established labour relations with other entity, under the terms of the legislation in force.

During 2016, the Government will open the third and final internal and external special teaching application for the integration of teachers in the staff of the regional education system, created by the Regional Legislative Decree no.8/2014/A of June 23. The latter provides the opening of over 101 vacancies for the integration of teachers who have been working continuously in public school establishments for the past three years.

With this last special application, the Autonomous Region of the Azores fulfils the commitment to open 300 vacancies for the regional school staff, meeting the needs of the education system that turned out to be permanent. Moreover, it will ensure the professional, personal and family stability of a considerable number of teachers.

The teachers who will eventually fill these vacancies will be attached to the staff of the school where they were placed through a public employment contract of indefinite duration, with effect from September 1, 2016.
