In the context of the Artistic Season 2015, the Government of the Azores promotes two concerts by Lira Açoriana Regional Orchestra to take place on the island of Flores Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 PM.

The concerts will conclude the second traineeship organised by the Lira Açoriana project that is being held in Lajes das Flores. The initiative is being attended by 54 young musicians from several islands, divided into 12 groups: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trump, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion.

The training course, directed by conductor Henrique Piloto, artistic director of Lira Açoriana in the biennium 2015/2016, consists of two daily sessions. The morning session is dedicated to group rehearsal under the guidance of guest teachers. In turn, the afternoon session is dedicated to the orchestra rehearsal, featuring all trainers and teachers, under by guidance of the conductor.

The conclusion of this traineeship will be marked with two concerts. The first will be held at the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church, Fajãzinha, on September 5, being included in the celebrations of 500th anniversary of Lajes das Flores Town. The second concert is scheduled for September 6 at Matriz Church of Santa Cruz das Flores.

Both concerts features the works "Semper Fidelis" by John Philip de Sousa, "Almorol" by Francisco de Lacerda, with arrangements by Hélio Soares, "Symphony for Band" by Vincente Persichetti, "Arco-Íris" by Duarte Pestana and "March no. 1 Pomp and Circumstance" by Edward Elgar.
