Information: Endemic plants embellish the village of Cinco Ribeiras
Nearly 300 Picconia azorica and Azores blueberry trees will be planted tomorrow, February 15, by the roadside of Canada da Ribeira do Mouro in the Village of Cinco Ribeiras.
This initiative was promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry in a joint initiative with the Village Council of Cinco Ribeiras in the context of the celebration of the International Year of Forests.

In 2010, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry authorised the exploitation of about 343 hectares of Cryptomeria forest throughout the Region, producing 129 thousand cubic metres of wood, which represented for the respective owners a gross revenue of 1.8 million Euros and 10.9 million Euros for first processing industries , having generated nearly 1400 jobs.

In the context of the celebration of the International Year of Forests, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry promotes the contest “Searching for notable trees in the Azores.”
