To favour a bigger use of electricity while energy of easier production from renewable sources or endogenous resources constitutes one of the main directions of the Strategic Plan for the Energy of the Azores that the president of the Government presents next week in Terceira.
Around 30 percent of the electricity currently produced in the Region originates from renewable sources, holding the Government to its commitment the increase of this quota and in the growth of the use of the electric energy in areas that not the traditional ones, namely on the sector of the transports.
In recent declarations, Carlos César showed that his Executive is, for example, committed in guaranteeing that, within 10 years, a third of the fleet of buses and taxis of the Region is constituted by hybrid vehicles, hybrids Plug-in and streetcars.
In the area of the increase of the electric production with use of endogenous resource, the regional electric enterprise, EDA, has current important investments in the geothermic energy, namely in Terceira, and in the introduction of Aeolic parks and in mini-hydric.
On 30th, before presenting the Strategic Plan for the Energy of the Azores, the president of the Government inaugurates a new Aeolic park with an annual capacity of production of 10 GHz.
The new equipment, which represented an investment for 5,8 million euros, integrates five airgenerators with a unit power of 900 kW.
