The Budget of the Autonomous Region of the Azores for 2009 was approved on Thursday night, by majority, by the Regional Legislative Assembly.
The members of PS and PCP vote for the Budget, CDS/PP abstained and PSD, BE and PPM voted against it.
Proposed by the Government, the Regional Budget for this year goes up to the record sum of 1,417 million Euros.
In 2009, the amounts to be received by the Region, through transfer, from the National Budget should reach 375,062,000 Euros.
From this total amount, 58,618,000 Euros correspond to allocations from the Cohesion Fund, exclusively aimed to fund investment projects.
The Budget estimates that the European Union transfers will reach this year the amount of 152,847,000 Euros.
The Regional legislative decree that approves the Budget also stipulates 40,000,000 Euros as the maximum authorised limit for the guarantees to be provided by the Region in 2009.
