President of the Government emphasises partnership with ECTAA for European projection of the Azores destination
The President of the Government stressed today the importance of the partnership between the Region and the European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations (ECTAA), which falls within the strategy to disseminate the potentialities of the Azores Tourism in Europe.
"The partnership with ECTAA is part of a wider strategy developed by the Region in order to disseminate, through several means of communication, the potentialities and opportunities of the Azores in the tourism sector," said Vasco Cordeiro to journalists.
The President of the Government spoke after receiving the President and Secretary-General of ECTAA as well as the President of the Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism on the eve of the biannual meeting of this European body. This year's meeting will be held in Ponta Delgada.
The choice of the Azores for the venue of this meeting is due to the fact that they were "ECTAA's Preferred Destination" in 2014. This body comprises over thirty travel agents' and tour operators' associations from various European countries.
After the audience, Vasco Cordeiro stressed that this partnership "honours and raises the Azores Tourism to prominence," taking into account the number of ECTAA's members and their geographical scope of action.
"This contributes to the dissemination of the Azores Tourism among those who operate in the tourism sector at various levels, whether they or travel agents or tour operators," stressed the President of the Government. The government stressed that the strategy to promote the Region is not limited to Europe, as it also includes the North American market.
