Carlos César says that public investments on Graciosa correspond to a vision of modernity and future
The project to build the day nursery, the kindergarten and the centre for occupational activities for the Santa Cruz da Graciosa Santa Casa da Misericórdia was presented today.
Presiding over the ceremony, Carlos César conveyed his satisfaction regarding “this structured and integrated response to the social needs in the municipality,” emphasising that this work reveals a sense of ambition and projection of the public investment on the island, which corresponds to a vision of modernity and future.
“It is a great undertaking, in an estimate amount of 2.6 million Euros, but it corresponds to the entire needs of Graciosa for the next few years, both for day nurseries and for kindergartens and centres for occupational activities, thereby providing an adequate response to the more immediate needs,” said Carlos César.
Stressing that this work is integrated in a vast group of undertakings already concluded, being carried out or still in the stage of project for Graciosa Island, such as the renewal of the Basic Education and Secondary School, the investment in the accessibilities, animal husbandry and tourism, Carlos César stated that these works simultaneously demonstrate the effort to solve a series of problems that have endured for some time.
Furthermore, the President announced the Governmental investments on Graciosa, including the adaptation of assisted houses for the elderly, the reinstallation of the Social Security services in Santa Cruz, the construction of a day centre in the village of Luz and improvements in the Nursing Home of Santa Cruz.
For the President of the Government, “we have here a diversity of investments, comprising various sectors that will certainly transform Graciosa for the better in the short term and which correspond to a golden age of public investment in the Archipelago.”
