The President of the Government Carlos César congratulated today young Azorean Pedro Cordeiro who was awarded the Medal of Excellence at the 2011 World Skills Competition in London.
Pedro Cordeiro, from Vila Franca do Campo, regional and national champion in the area of Electricity, distinguished himself in that competition by reaching 526 points, the highest score among Portuguese participants.
The 2011 World Skills Competition was visited by over 150,000 people between October 5 and 8, with hundreds of national champions taking part in 46 skill areas while representing 58 countries, which together amount to 70% of the world population.
In addition to Pedro Cordeiro, other Azoreans also took part in the competition, namely Rafael Roque, national champion in computer network systems, and Milton Furtado, national champion in cooking
The President of the Government, congratulating the award-winning Azorean and his family, encouraged the young professional “to pursue constantly the excellence that was now internationally recognised with a distinction that will, no doubt, be an example to all Azoreans who see training as the most suitable foundation to build a successful future.”
