Azorean Airports with more airplanes and passengers in the first half of the year
The total of landing of passengers, boarded and direct traffics registered in the nine airports and airfields of the Azores in the first half of this year represented an addition of 1,9 percent, regarding the movement checked in the homologous period of 2007.
From January to June, the Azorean airport structures moved, in its whole, 855 thousand passengers, against 840 thousand in the first semester of 2007, according to data spread today by the National Statistics Institute.
In the João Paulo II Airport the number of boarded passengers, landed and direct traffics reached the 441 thousand, while in Lajes da Terceira it was of 219 thousand.
In Faial, Santa Maria and Pico, other islands that work like “entrance doors” in the Azores, 85 thousand, 58 thousand and 25 passengers were moved, respectively.
In the first half of the year, the nine Azorean airports and airfields registered a total of 8.032 landings, more 3,7 percent than in identical period of 2007.
