The Government of the Azores has authorised the transfer, definitive and free of charge, of a grain-grinding windmill, including the outbuilding and a storehouse, to Ginetes Village Council for rehabilitation and recovery interventions.
The decision to transfer this mill, located in Pico do Cavalo, is included in a resolution published today in the Official Journal. It is aimed at the rehabilitation and recovery of the building, as requested by that village council.
Thus, the Government of the Azores meets the request of Ginetes Village Council, which intends to purchase the land where the mill is located in order to enhance the cultural and tourist interest in one of the few windmills remaining on the island of S. Miguel.
Under the terms of the Resolution, the building will be transferred to the assets of the Autonomous Region of the Azores if the intended purpose is not fulfilled.
