Regional Government to support entrepreneurs from Flores and Corvo with reduced economic activity due to the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo
The Regional Government has requested the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Horta to accurately determine the actual losses incurred by companies from Flores and Corvo as a result of disruptions in the maritime transport of goods to those islands following the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo.
The Vice-President of the Government noted that this collaboration will "determine the actual losses in terms of effects on their net results" arising from the constraints caused by the destruction of Lajes das Flores Port in October.
Sérgio Ávila spoke in Horta at the end of a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Horta, Davide Marcos. On the occasion, he stressed that this procedure will enable the Government, according with the commitment made, to fully support "the actual losses incurred by each company arising from the reduction of its economic activity" due to difficulties in the transport of goods.
The Vice-President of the Government pointed out that the support for the actual losses resulting from the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo is already being processed, amounting to 70 thousand euros, and will be granted to 17 companies that have submitted applications.
The cooperation now requested to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Horta concerns losses arising from the reduced economic activity of the business fabric on the islands of Flores and Corvo due to the disruption in the maritime transport of goods. Currently, the situation has been solved with the entry of the vessel "Malena" into operation.
