The Vice-President of the Government highlighted in Angra do Heroísmo the new measures implemented to increase the income of civil servants, guarantee more stability and the promotion of workers with specific careers.
 
"We were able to reach an understanding in three matters that we consider essential in the context of the recovery of household income, particularly in the case of workers with lower income," stated Sérgio Ávila after a meeting with the CGTP/IN Açores (General Union of Workers) officials.
 
The Vice-President defended a conciliation between the 12% increase in the Wage Supplement for next year with the changes resulting from the increase of the minimum wage and the minimum remuneration "in order to ensure that there is effectively a twofold increase, particularly for workers with lower wages."
 
With a view to greater job stability, the Vice-President of the Government also highlighted "the opening of recruitment procedures for 200 operational assistants in the most pressing areas, Health and Education." He ensured the Government's commitment to open "a significant number" of recruitment procedures already in January, considering that this commitment is extended until September 2020.
 
"We made a commitment with CGPT/IN Açores, after a survey that we are carrying out with health units, hospitals and schools, to open a very significant number of recruitment procedures by the end of January to meet the goal of hiring 200 workers," stressed the government official.
 
Speaking to journalists, Sérgio Ávila highlighted the opening of procurement procedures for specific Regional Administration careers, another measure he considered to be "innovative in the national context" in view of the limitations at national level.
 
The specific careers cover the areas of Computing, Inspection, Forest Rangers, Nature Watchers, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians and Technical-Professional positions, among others.
 
For the Vice-President of the Government, the three measures - wage supplement increase, opening of procurement procedures for 200 operational assistants and promotion in specific careers - "will significantly reinforce stability in the Regional Public Administration."
 
"We also move forward with a very significant increase in wages, namely for workers with lower income and those who have not been promoted for many years due to State limitations," said Sérgio Ávila.
