34 young people from several countries to start traineeships in the Azores under the Eurodyssey programme

A group of 25 young people from several countries will start a professional traineeship in Azorean institutions and companies under the Eurodyssey programme.

This group of young people will stay in the Azores for the next six months. The first month will be exclusively dedicated to the learning of the Portuguese language and the remaining five months will be spent in a real work environment.

The institutions and companies taking part in this initiative are located on the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Corvo. The traineeships cover agriculture, scientific and social areas, manufacturing, tourism, biology and environmental protection, education, administration and management, communication, audiovisuals and graphic design.

The young people who are in the Azores to embark on an experience provided by the Eurodyssey programme come from the regions of Brussels - Capital and Wallonia, (Belgium), Rhône-Alpes, Ile-de-France and Franche-Comté, (France), Catalonia, Valencia and Murcia (Spain), and Umbria and Valle D'Aosta (Italy).

Eurodyssey is an exchange programme of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) that promotes traineeships abroad for a period between three and seven months. This initiative is targeted at youngsters between 18 and 30 who are looking for a job.

The programme is managed in the Azores by the Vice-Presidency of the Government, through the Regional Directorate for Employment and Vocational Training. It is primarily intended to provide youngsters with professional experience and, simultaneously, provide them with the opportunity to learn a foreign language or improve their knowledge of it.
