The Portuguese workers to the service of the American Armed Forces in Lajes’ Airfield can access to the installments of subsidy of unemployment in conditions of equality relatively to all the other national workers.
The decision was taken by the Department of Labor and of Social Solidarity and it appears in the sequence of the efforts and diligence undertaken by the president of the Government of the Azores next to the Government of the Republic.
Before an exhibition done by Carlos César to the Minister of Work and Social Solidarity it was determined that, for effects of the attribution of the subsidy of unemployment, it is considered that the claim of a Portuguese worker next to the Labour Commission of the Agreement of Cooperation and Defense is “equated to the act of a judicial action” of any worker on account of somebody else.
The decision now communicated means that the Portuguese workers won’t have to wait for the end of the labour litigious process to receive the installments to which they would have right to, being able to benefit from them as soon as they complain of the decision that led to the respective firing.
For being a matter of justice and of adaptation of the law to a specific situation, with great impact in the social and professional reality of the Azores, the Regional Government is congratulated by the good result of the diligence that it effectuated for its resolution.
