Regional Government reinforces training offer to boost employability of Azoreans

The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training restated in Ponta Delgada that the qualification of Azores is "indispensable for the promotion of employability," considering that this process requires joint work with vocational training schools and social partners of the Region.

"The Regional Government will continue to focus on the qualifications of the Azoreans through the reinforcement and diversification of the vocational training offer, while reconciling market needs with the interests and aptitudes of young people," said Paula Andrade. She spoke at the end of a meeting with the heads of all vocational training schools of the archipelago as well as with representatives of the agricultural, tourism and construction sectors.

"It is important to hear the main sectors of our economy and those who work at schools on a daily basis in order to identify the training needs so that we may define a strategy addressing training shortages in these areas in a structured manner," stressed the government official.

The Regional Director stressed that "agriculture, tourism and construction are vital sectors for the Azorean agriculture as well as for the creation more and better jobs."

As this meeting for the presentation of the training offer for the 2019/2020 school year, which covers vocational schools, the “Reativar” programme and the training of workers, Paula Andrade stressed that the Government "intends to provide a comprehensive response to the unemployed, young people and workers in the Region."

For the Regional Director, the qualification of the Azoreans "is indispensable for the promotion of employability and, consequently, for the economic and social development of the Azores."

"Once again, it was demonstrated that the Regional Government is on the side of Azorean entrepreneurs, identifying difficulties and seeking solutions," said Paula Andrade.
