Vila do Porto ,  January 20, 2020

New MOVEMPREGO measure aims to meet specific labour needs

The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training presented today in Vila do Porto the new MOVEMPREGO measure, which aims, among other goals, to contribute to the "internal mobility of human resources, territorial cohesion and the increase of competitiveness of companies." On the occasion, she announced a series of announcing several actions to disseminate this measure on all the islands of the Azores.

Paula Andrade spoke at the first dissemination session held at the Santa Maria Museum. According to her, MOVEMPREGO, recently created by the Regional Government, aims to promote "the geographical mobility of human resources in the archipelago, along with the revitalisation of the labour market, and to meet specific labour needs arising from the growth of employment."

"This measure will contribute to the proximity of the labour markets of each island as well as to relocation workers and their families on different islands," added the Regional Director.

MOVEMPREGO is aimed at unemployed people registered at the Regional Agencies for Qualification and Employment and at the Azores Youth Guarantee, who have completed the "Estagiar L" or "Estagiar T" programmes and who have worked after the end of the traineeship. It also covers those who have resided on the island of origin for more than 12 months.

The measure includes financial aid to support relocation costs, which will be granted to the displaced family in a one-off payment, and the maintenance of workers and their families on the island, which will be allocated on a monthly basis during the first six months. It may be increased according to criteria, such as household size, age or the qualifications of beneficiaries.

"This measure is another opportunity created by the Regional Government to provide a response to the unemployed seeking the first or a new job in the Region," stressed Paula Andrade.

The Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training informed that there will be "34 dissemination actions to be held on all islands of the archipelago during the next two months, which are aimed not only at people but also at private companies, entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations.

With these actions, the Regional Government pursues its policy towards greater proximity to companies and the unemployed, providing them with information on MOVEMPREGO.
