Government of the Azores pawned in the cooperation with Cape Verde in the areas of employment and vocational training
The regional director for Employment and Vocational Training reaffirmed, today, the pledge of the Government of the Azores in substantiating events of institutional cooperation real, in several areas of intervention, with the Republic of Cape Verde.
Rui Bettencourt, who was speaking in a press conference, in Ponta Delgada, after a meeting with superior officials of Cape Verde, suggested that strong probabilities of cooperation can be found in the areas of employment and vocational training, in the sequence of the protocols signed during the visit of the Cape Verdean prime minister to the Azores, in 2007, and, more recently, of the official travel of president Carlos César to that African country.
In the phase of current evaluation, it matters to define well the points of common interest, reason for which the Azores are prepared to support the organization of a joint seminar, to happen by the end of the current year, in the direction of, in a wide analysis, all the means of cooperation being determined in areas such as the management of the unemployed people registered in the unemployment insurance fund, the professional certification and the job relations, he told.
For the regional director, there is, at once, a fundamental matter that must be considered and that is connected with the works and studies of the Employment and Vocational Training Observatory of the Azores, in other words, the need of knowing, in a clear way, the local reality over which it is claimed to decide upon, and that must precede the taking of political decision for the matters of employment.
The Azorean experience will be able to be useful for Cape Verde in this area, with prospective studies on the analysis of the needs of the business sector in the direction of proceeding with the training and the vocational qualification in function of the needs of the enterprises themselves, he considered.
Another area that proceeded for the institutional cooperation with Cape Verde concerns the system of indicators of alert, which is being worked, from some years ago, in the Azores, and which allows finding out in which sectors there may be crisis and in which sectors there is labour expansion.
In the opinion of the regional director, that helps to define the government strategies on the subject of vocational training, since the governments must invest, first of all, in the vocational training in sectors in expansion, giving appropriate answer to the business growth.
Rui Bettencourt also appeared to be convinced that an adhesion of Cape Verde to the "Eurydice", a program of exchanges and of traineeships of European young people, even in the quality of observer, will be able to result in benefits for that African country, making possible the attendance of Cape Verdean young people in traineeships in Europe.
In this particular subject, the Azores, given the influence that they can practise in the decision making of the "Eurydice", may be able to support the claims of Cape Verde; it added the regional director for Employment and Vocational Training.
