Vítor Fraga announces creation of Support Office to the Transfer of Technology for Companies

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced in Horta that the Regional Government will launch Support Office to the Transfer of Technology for Companies early in the second semester.

Speaking at the Legislative Assembly, Vítor Fraga stressed that this office will be created under the Azores Digital and Technological Agenda (measure 20). This project will make the transfer of technology for companies easier, thus "allowing them to have access to the latest technology in the market in order to boost their productive capacity and rendering them truly competitive."

With an estimated budget of 40 thousand Euros, the Support Office to the Transfer of Technology for Companies will be firstly installed at Nonagon on São Miguel and, when the required conditions are met, it will be installed at Terceira Technology Park.

According to the Regional Secretary, "this office will operate in partnership with research centres, mainly those at the University of the Azores."

In the speech delivered at the Azorean Parliament, Vítor Fraga stressed that the Government's priority for this area is to "create the conditions" to render Azorean companies "more competitive in the global market with the aim of consolidating jobs and actively contributing to the creation of more jobs."

In this context, the Regional Secretary reminded that the main goals of the Digital and Technological Agenda concerns "the promotion of entrepreneurship, the competitiveness of companies, the maintenance and creation of jobs" and the "generation of added value in the products" developed by Azorean companies under "a clear guidance of Community policies followed by the Azores in this area."

With the purpose of "supporting Azorean companies to generate added value and strive in a global market, such as the Internet, GLOBALEDA has recently become a partner of DNS.pt.”This partnership will bring competitive advantages to the Azorean companies joining the domain ".pt" and also "offers them the possibility of benefiting from technical advice in important areas such as security, which is essential for those involved in the Internet business."
