The Azores will be featured once again at BTL - International Tourism Market, maintaining and strengthening their investment in tourism experiences. The event will take place in Lisbon from March 2 to 6.
 
The Region will be highlighted at Pavilion 1 of the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) with a stand that was specifically built for this purpose and has been used since 2014; its construction features the use of endogenous materials. The Azores stand invites visitors to discover an archipelago of discoveries in an ocean of adventures, where special emphasis is given to the emotions and experiences that tourists can enjoy on each of the nine islands, always in close relation with the nature that distinguishes the Azores.
 
Over the next days, the Azores stand at BTL will also be the stage for the presentation of several international sports events that will take place in the archipelago in 2016, such as the Red Bull Cliff Diving, the Azores Airlines Rallye, the Azores Trail Run, Canyoning International Meeting in Azores or ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, among others.
 
Until the end of the fair, scheduled for Sunday, there will be room even for the presentation of several Azorean municipalities, in addition to other partners in the tourism sector.
 
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport will attend the BTL 2016, taking part in several events that will be announced in due course.
 
The domestic market is one of the main tourism markets for the archipelago. After the repositioning of the destination, it has evidenced a very positive performance. This trend has been reinforced by the entry into force of the new accessibility model that allowed the operation of new companies, including low cost companies, which resulted in a very significant reduction of access costs to the Region on the five gateways.
