Integrated Transport Plan to move forward by the end of this year, assures Vítor Fraga

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced on Tuesday that the Integrated Transport Plan will "move forward" by the end of the end. The government official noted that this plan will establish an "interconnections" between air, maritime and land transport, providing a response to the permanent concerns demonstrated by the Government towards the mobility of all Azoreans.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the headquarters of the Ponta Delgada office of the Automóvel Clube de Portugal (ACP), Vítor Fraga stressed that the Government of the Azores is taking "another step" towards what is fundamental in the transport sector, which is to provide efficient transport that can meet the actual needs of all those who use it."

The Regional Secretary also reminded that the Government has been made a series of investments in the road network and in road safety over the years in order to reduce the accident rate on Azorean roads. These efforts have yielded positive results in recent years.

In this context, Vítor Fraga launched a challenge to ACP to "join the Azorean Government and all other entities operating in this area" in order to "render prevention more effective" and, thereby, reduce road accidents.

For the Secretary for Tourism and Transport, ACP, through its membership database, can also contribute to the promotion of the Azores and play an active role in boosting tourism flows to the Region."

The government official conveyed his "great satisfaction" with the commitment demonstrated by ACP in developing all of its activities in the Azores, providing the Region with "a service of excellence in the promotion of automobiles, the defence of drivers and the contribution to road safety."
