Azores will continue to invest in pedestrian trails as "anchor product," says Vítor Fraga

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport assured today in Nordeste that the network of pedestrian trails in the Azores represent a tourism product in which the government will continue to invest and develop." The government official stressed that this is "an anchor-product in the context of the Region's tourism offer."

Speaking at the opening of the "Forno da Cal" Trail, Vítor Fraga reminded that the Azorean Government "has considerably reinforced the number of people who will be in charge for the monitoring and maintenance of trails." Currently, there are "over a hundred people who work exclusively on the preservation of trails, which clearly demonstrates the importance of this product to the Region."

"Our goal is to assure that this product remains as product of reference and excellence (anchor-product) that will contribute to the increase of tourism flows to the Azores as well as to the satisfaction of all who will visit us," said the government official.

"If are able to instil the satisfaction of visiting the Azores in all those who have visited us, we will be also promoting the destination and visitors will naturally become the ambassadors of the destination," stressed the Regional Secretary.

Vítor Fraga also said he expects that Nordeste may "strengthen its position in the development of a structured network of trails that will be part of the Regional Network of Trails. Therefore, we will be able to present a structured product as we have done until now."
