Free Time Activity Centres to gradually open, announces Andreia Cardoso

The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stated in Angra do Heroísmo that the Free Time Activity Centres are gradually opening and demonstrating their ability to adapt to the new reality, according to the guidelines issued by the Regional Health Authority.

Andreia Cardoso spoke at the end of a visit to the Free Time Activity Centre of the Christian Youth Association, as part of a round of visits to various social infrastructures, in order to learn about how the reopening of the services and their operation are taking place under the new rules.

"Like daycare centres and kindergartens, Free Time Activity Centres also demonstrate their ability to adapt to the new reality, having prepared the reopening on a gradual basis with the support of the technical team to monitor contingency plans," stressed the government official.
“We are aware that parents' adherence will increase over time and this reopening in a phased manner is also important for institutions, which are gradually preparing for the new reality,” added Andreia Cardoso.
During the pandemic phase, the Regional Government allocated almost 300 thousand Euros to support institutions running Free Time Occupation Centres throughout the Region, corresponding to the fees from which families were exempted during the period of closure.
