The Secretary for Social Solidarity spoke at the presentation of the 3rd Regional Plan for the Prevention and Combat to Domestic and Gender Violence, which was published today in the Official Journal.

“This Plan stands out for its continuing action with a view to the Region's intervention in these areas, also covering dating violence and new forms of violence, with the ultimate goal of promoting a culture based on citizenship,” said the government official.

The guiding document also provides for an increase in the scope of prevention work, covering young people from higher education, as well as the institutional, business and public administration fabric, “with a view to promoting citizenship education, respect for human rights and gender equality.”

It also plans to “create housing units for victims of domestic violence to assist their empowerment process, along with the available psychosocial support”, as well as the “process of supervision and technical-scientific and emotional intervention for professionals”. victim support technicians.” It is also envisaged to “set up housing units for victims of domestic violence in order to assist their empowerment together with the psychosocial support provided” as well as the “technical and scientific and emotional surveillance process for technical professionals in support of the victim”.

"The Regional Government recognises domestic and gender violence as a social problem and a concern that underpins the implementation of specific public policies aimed at preventing and combating this problem," said Andreia Cardoso.

The government official added that the Region has sought to consolidate and improve the work carried out towards the prevention and combat to domestic and gender violence, based on the national and international guidelines.

“The implementation of the 1st Plan has paved the way for a consistent, sustained and coordinated intervention in the area of prevention and fight against domestic violence. It was heavily influenced by national and international strategies as well as by scientific studies on regional reality," said Andreia Cardoso.
