The Ordinance no.110/2015, which regulates the Special Supplement for Oncology Patients (CEDO), a financial support awarded to oncology patients receiving care outside their island of residence, was published today in the Official Journal. It is intended to support for complementary diagnostic tests, treatments and consultations.
According to the ordinance, beneficiaries are entitled to request a third of the amount allocated under CEDO at the Social Security service of their area of residence before the scheduled date of departure.
After the first third of the estimated period for travel, beneficiaries may also request the refund the amount granted under CEDO to the Social Security services of the area of destination or at the Support Services for Displaced Patients in the Autonomous Region the Azores or in Mainland Portugal.
The Regional Legislative Decree no. 16/2015/A of June 17, 2015 establishing the Special Supplement for Oncology Patients stipulated the amount of 20 Euros per day of travel.
