The Regional Secretariat for Health suspended the provision of health care through agreements signed by hospitals and island health units with private and social entities with the aim of preventing and limiting the spread of infection with the novel coronavirus in the Azores.
Clinical situations proven urgent and unavoidable as well as the agreements in the area of radiotherapy are considered exceptions.
These situations must be justified by the Regional Health Service physician who follows the patient and confirmed by the Clinical Director of the Health Unit.
The order came into effect today and will remain in force during the state of emergency or later phase as provided for in the Legal Scheme on the Civil Protection System of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
