Civil Protection promotes training on Basic Life Support for Azorean population

The Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service (SRPCBA) will promote two training sessions on Basic Life Support addressed at the population in general.

With a training plan under the motto "Each one of us may save a life," the training sessions will take place in Angra do Heroísmo on Saturday and Sunday.

The course will give special emphasis to the practical component. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire skills that allow them to take the appropriate actions in a situation of cardiac arrest. Moreover, they will also know which information should be provided to 112 (emergency number) and learn how to initiate basic life support manoeuvres until help arrives.

According to SRPCBA, the course will address contents related to Basic Life Support Algorithm, Compressions and Insufflations, Recovery Position and Airway Clearance.

Training sessions on Basic Life Support start on the island of Terceira, covering a total of 160 participants. Nevertheless, the SRPCBA plans to extend the initiative across the Azores so that it may reach the largest possible number of people.

The Saturday and Sunday sessions will be held at the São Bento Cultural Building between 9 AM and 1 PM.
