Art and Information Campaigns play relevant role in preventing risk behaviour, defends Suzete Frias

The Regional Director for Prevention and Control of Dependencies announced yesterday the implementation of a cultural integration project in partnership with Cresaçor for young people at risk that will include activities related to music and visual arts.

"The underpinning concept of this programme is based on the idea of providing young people at risk with the opportunity to find a means of expression that will help them changing their behaviour through art," emphasised the government official.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with Cresaçor - Regional Solidarity Economy Cooperative mentioned that this integration programme, through arts, will be extended to other entities interested in implementing the initiative.

During the meeting with CRESAÇOR, one of the entities that joined the Regional Forum on Alcohol and Health, this institution made the commitment to create a strategic communication and image plan for the dissemination of the Forum's contents.

"We defend that one of the ways to get the message of the goals stipulated by the Regional Forum in Alcohol and Health involves the provision of advice and suggestions that can lead to the effective promotion of health and the prevention of risk behaviour."

These campaigns include awareness-raising spots on zero alcohol in pregnancy, alcohol-free driving and risk minimisation preventive behaviours on nights out.

The Regional Solidarity Economy Cooperative is available to mediate with organisers and professionals working in entertainment and night events for the promotion of preventive measures and the reduction of alcohol-related problems.

Furthermore, CRESAÇOR also made the commitment to support the organisation of training courses aimed at the promotion of active ageing for people in pre-retirement as well as training courses for health professionals on cultural and identity issues.
