The Regional Government will provide financial support specifically intended for the fisheries sector to adopt measures aimed at preventing, detecting and mitigating the spreading of the novel coronavirus. 

disinfection of facilities and boats as well as testing for virus detection, thus contributing to the exercise of fishing and related activities under safer conditions. 

This new financial support falls within the Sea 2020 Operational Programme, more specifically in three regional support schemes: investment in fishing ports, unloading sites, fish markets and shelters; the processing of fishing and aquaculture products; investments on board fishing vessels. 

Additionally, new provisions were also introduced in these support schemes to streamline procedures for operations approved under Sea 2020, particularly as regards payments to beneficiaries. 

This support is aimed at shipowners and operators in the sectors of marketing and processing of fish products as well as at the entities responsible for the first sale of fish.
