The Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology visits the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Boston, USA, at the beginning of next week.
 
Gui Menezes noted that this visit to the United States, taking place Monday and Tuesday, is aimed at "establishing contacts with researchers and projects" of both institutions to "search potential partnerships" for AIR Centre - Atlantic International Research Centre.
 
The programme of the visit, during which the Regional Secretary accompanies the Minister of Science and Higher Education, includes meetings with the Chair of the MIT Industrial Performance Centre, Richard Lester, and the Apollo Programme Professor at MIT, Dava Newman.
 
The Portuguese delegation also includes the President of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Paulo Ferrão, the Executive Director of the AIR Centre, Joaquin Brito, as well as representatives from the University of Minho, the Institute of Science and Innovation for Bio-Sustainability, Fibrenamics, CEIIA – Centre of Excellence and Innovation for Automotive Industry, TERINOV - Terceira Science and Technology Park, DST Group and Critical Material.
 
It should be noted that the General Assembly of AIR Centre took place on Terceira Island in early January. On the occasion, the new Executive Director was formally sworn in.
