Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library in Angra do Heroísmo promotes mini-book illustration workshop

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, promotes a Mini-book Illustration Workshop conducted by Ricardo Ávila and Catarina Dantas between July 17 and 20, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.

This activity, aimed at young people aged between 10 and 16, is intended to give voice to a series of traditional stories collected at elderly institutions under "Play to Storytellers," a project promoted by the Library.

In this regard, participants will have a first contact with the stories shared by the elders and then, using a variety of material, make small illustrated books.

The workshop is limited to seven participants. Interested parties should contact Ricardo Ávila by telephone 295 401 000 or by email [email protected], to which they should send the registration form.

A native of Terceira Island, Ricardo Ávila is a narrator, reading mediator and actor. He holds a degree in Childhood Education from the University of the Azores and a Master's degree in theatre - specialisation in puppeteer from the University of Évora.

He has dedicated himself to the storytelling of traditional Portuguese and has participated in various formations in this area, and is currently responsible for several reading promotion activities at the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive.

Catarina Dantas graduated in Fine Arts and holds a postgraduate degree in Social Education and Community Intervention. She has participated in projects in which art acts in and within the community.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
