The process for the eventual interest public classification of five buildings located in the villages of Matriz and Conceição, municipality of Horta, moved forward to the phase of written hearing by interested parties.

The House of Pilar, located in the village of Conceição, the House of Comendador Eduardo Bulcão, the building of Horta Post Office, the "Império dos Nobres" (Holy Spirit Chapel) and House of Lecquoc Pharmacy, located in the village of Matriz, are the buildings included the Building Heritage Inventory of the Azores, now in the phase of eventual classification.

The deadline for the written hearing phase is stipulated at 15 days, according to the announcement published in the Official Journal by the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, Avelino Meneses, and the public notices posted in the headquarters of Horta City Hall and the parish councils of Matriz and Conceição.

At this stage, interested parties are invited to participate by raising questions or safeguarding matters of interested for the decision-making process before a decision is taken in terms of matters of fact and law.

The House of Pilar, located in Lomba, is a building that dates back to the 18th century. It comprises a manor house surrounded by a series of terraced platforms, partially landscaped and supported by large support walls, and by a forested area at the back.

It also includes three large cisterns, two of them twinned, and rectangular-shape lake with a stone islet in the centre.

Located in the village of Matriz of Horta city, the "Império dos Nobres" (Holy Spirit chapel) also dates back to the 18th century. Among other aspects, its secondary body has a span of late Gothic design.

The Pharmacy Lecquoc House is more recent than the aforementioned buildings. It is an urban property whose decoration anticipates the fin de siècle atmosphere of the 1800s.

The Building Heritage Inventory of the Azores describes the House of Comendador Eduardo Bulcão, already built in the 20th century, "as an urban corner house with two floors and an attic, and with an overbearing eclectic decoration." In turn, architect Adelino Nunes projected the Post Office, a public building located on the side of Matriz Church. It "demonstrates a desire to reconcile the principles of Estado Novo (New State) architecture, commonly known as "'Soft Portuguese style.'"
