The island of Pico won eight awards at the 16th Azorean Sports Gala. The trophies were delivered at a ceremony held Thursday at São Roque Basic Education and Secondary School.
 
In the "National and International Results and Scores" category, the Sports Group of "Casa do Povo" of Madalena (runner-up in the Table Tennis Super Cup and participation in the European Cup - ETTU Cup in Women's Seniors). In turn, the Salão Recreativo dos Toledos Sports Group was awarded four prizes (runner-up in the Portuguese Cup, Senior Women's, runner-up in the Super Cup, Men's Seniors, and participation in the European Cup - ETTU Cup in Men's and Women's Seniors). In addition, the Sports Group of "Casa do Povo" of Santo António was distinguished with a trophy (2nd place in the National Kickboxing Championship, Point-Fighting).
 
Paulo Goulart was distinguished in the "Personalities" category (20 years as football referee).
 
The prize-delivery ceremony of the 16th Azorean Sports Gala on Pico featured the performances of the Youth Orchestra of São Roque Basic Education and Secondary School and the Hip Hop dance group of the same school.
