Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archives promotes training course on Genealogy

The Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive, in partnership with the Ponta Delgada Culture Institute, promotes a training course entitled "Genealogy without secrets," which will be taught by Francisco Queirós from February 16 to 18.

This training course will take place on February 16 and 17 at Ponta Delgada Cultural Institute from 6 PM to 8 PM and on February 18 at Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Registrations should be made to the Ponta Delgada Cultural Institute by telephone 296628598 or by email [email protected].

The main purpose of this training is to help participants discover the history of their family: knowing where to go, where not to go, when to ask for help and to whom.

Francisco Queirós holds a doctorate degree in Art History from the University of Porto. He also holds the position assistant coordinator of the Research Group "Heritage, Culture and Tourism" at CEPESE – Population, Economy and Society Studies Center, where in 2014 he complete his post-doctorate paper on 19th funerary art in Portugal.

Over the course of two decades of research, he has addressed Family History from the standpoint of biographies, photography collections and funerary art as genealogical source, a theme he presented as guest speaker in the first postgraduate course in Family History held in Portugal.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
