Carlos Machado Museum promotes initiative "Pedalling along the landscape of Sete Cidades"

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Carlos Machado Museum, promotes the initiative "Pedalling along the Landscape of Sete Cidades" on Sunday, May 29. The route will start at 11:00 AM at Ponte dos Regos in the village of Sete Cidades.

This initiative falls within "Beyond the Landscape," a project awarded by the Ibermuseus 2015 Programme. It was developed in 2014 and 2015 by the Intangible Cultural Heritage team of Carlos Machado Museum with the community of Sete Cidades with the aim of contributing to the development of the territory and the knowledge of this village.

The itinerary of the initiative "Pedalling along the Landscape of Sete Cidades" aims to continue the project and contribute to the promotion of this particular place of São Miguel Island, highlighting its people, its building heritage and its landscape.

The activity consists of a tour to the various parts of the village that have the potential to evoke the collective and interpretative memory of the experiences of this place, which also involves local people and their knowledge.

The itinerary highlights places such as Cerrado das Freiras, Picturesque Garden, Casa Grande, the Tunnel, São Nicolau Church as well as Holy Spirit "theatres" and festivities.

Participation in this activity requires prior registration, which should be done at the Carlos Machado Museum services until May 27.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
