Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre welcomes "Music in Childhood" project

The Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre in Ribeira Grande will host the "Music in Childhood" initiative between November 4 and 11. This is a practical training project based on experimentation and acquisition of musical, drama and body language.

This activity, aimed at kindergarten teachers and assistants, intends to provide participants with tools and artistic skills to be developed in classroom context.

On November 24, the Arquipélago hosts the celebrations of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The event includes the group discussion of themes that will be the main lines for the definition of new strategies.

The Contemporary Arts Centre will continue, until June 2018, to promote an initiative of the Education Service that takes place on the last Sunday of each month.

In November, the activity is entitled "My Route" and is intended for families. It is scheduled for November 26 at 3 PM.

Furthermore, the exhibition entitled "Pleasure of the Spirit and the Eye - itinerant exhibition project of the Arquipélago collection" will continue on public display at João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive in Horta. It features a selection of nine works.

Under the scope of this exhibition, the Educational Service promotes two activities to be held at that Library.

The Library will host the activity designated as "Garden of Shadows," based on the work "Palm Trees and their shadows at the same time and date in several places of the world and on the same page" by Inês Botelho and the activity entitled "Being or not Being," based on the work of "Flora V" series by Luísa Jacinto. These activities will run throughout the month of November for schools and groups from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 2 to 4 PM; previous registration is required.

The "Being or not Being" initiative will have a session especially dedicated to families on November 18 at 3 PM.

The "The Risible Enigma of Normal Life" is open to the public at Arquipélago. Curated by Mark Durden and David Campbell, the exhibition presents the multiple forms of comedy through contemporary art.

With this exhibition as starting point, the Educational Service promotes the activity "#Estranho" based on the work "Other People’s Photographs" by Maurice Doherty.

This activity will be held for families on November 18 at 3 PM and will be available for schools and groups until December 31 from 10 AM to 6 PM by previous appointment.
