Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre opens "Weather Station" exhibition

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, will open the "Weather Station" exhibition, curated by Sérgio Mah, on July 12 at 6:30 PM.

This exhibition features photography and video works by Sandra Rocha, a native of Angra do Heroísmo, and Manuela Marques; both currently reside and work in Paris.

The event was organised after an invitation made to the artists by the Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, for the development of a project that departed from the Azores, which has been developed over the last two years.

In July, Arquipélago is hosting events under its partnership with the Walk&Talk - Arts Festival; admission is free but subject to seating capacity.

On 7 July, "East Atlantic" will premiere at 7 PM, a joint creation of filmmaker Miguel C. Tavares and musician José Alberto Gomes.

This show, in film-concert format, features a strong performance-based component and portrays themes related to the Azorean archipelago.

On July 18, the Contemporary Arts Centre hosts the performance of António Branco&Riccardo T titled "Burning Pricks" at 9:30 PM. It aims to break with the traditional show concept by removing the barrier between performers and the audience.

From July 19 to 24, Arquipélago hosts the "Body-Buildings" crew, a fictional documentary by Henrique Pina that intended to reconcile the interrelations in the fields of architecture, dance and cinema.

This documentary depicts six Portuguese architecture works, among them the Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre in Ribeira Grande.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
