Angra do Heroísmo Museum promotes workshop on stage fencing

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, promotes a workshop on stage fencing under the title "Touché," featuring the participation of Peter Cann, director, actor and stage fight choreographer.

This workshop will be held Saturday, November 5, between 2 PM and 5:30 PM and will address the basic principles of stage fight. Participants will learn a series of simple cuts as well as some forms of defence that will allow them to create and run a short fight scene with sabres.

The initiative falls within the programme for the dissemination of military collection of Angra do Heroísmo Museum, being one of the richest and most varied collections belonging to this institution. It includes a visit to the 2nd moment of the "Sea and Earth ... a story in the Atlantic" exhibition and a fencing demonstration with an English Back Sword, a weapon used in Europe between the 5th and 12th centuries.

Attendance in this workshop is free but requires prior registration, which can be made by the telephone number 295 240 800 or at the email address [email protected].

Participation is limited to 16 people, including adults and young people from the age of 12, preferably belonging to theatre or "bailinhos"(carnival dances) groups.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
