Regional Government promotes training for young people from Diaspora communities

The Government of the Azores promotes the "Azores 2016 Training for young people from Azorean Diaspora" from July 15 to 21. The initiative is directed to young people of Azorean descent aged between 22 and 36 from Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, United States of America and Uruguay, but also from Mainland Portugal.
 
The "Azores 2016 Training" will take place on the islands of Terceira, Graciosa, Santa Maria and São Miguel. It falls within the Government's policies to promote synergies between the Region and the Diaspora, namely by strengthening ties of young people of Azorean descent to the Azores and encouraging their participation in the associations of the communities where they live.
 
This initiative involves the participation of 17 participants representing the Houses of the Azores and Azorean institutions from Bermuda, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia (Brazil), Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia (Canada), Massachusetts and California, San Jose, Hilmar and San Diego (USA), San Carlos (Uruguay), and Lisbon and Porto. It aims to inform young people from the Diaspora communities to present the reality the Azores, encouraging them to disseminate the potential of the Region while promoting a space for dialogue on the role they play in their communities.
 
The opening session takes place Friday, July 15, at the Garden of Capitães Generais Palace at 3 PM and will be chaired by the Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, Rodrigo Oliveira. The working sessions include a component in class context, covering topics such as investment opportunities, tourism, sea, environmental policies and youth, history, culture and external relations in the Region.
 
Promoted by the Cabinet of the Regional Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations, through the Regional Directorate for Communities, this initiative will provide young participants with the opportunity to visit institutions and companies on the four islands where the training course takes place: Biscoitos Cooperative Cellar (Terceira), Centre for North Atlantic Climate Research and "Queijadas da Graciosa" Factory (Graciosa), Dalberto Pombo Environmental Interpretation Centre and Oceanic Control Centre - NAV Portugal (Santa Maria), NONAGON - Science and Technology Park and Furnas Monitoring and Research Centre (São Miguel).
