Applications for Good Inclusive Practices Award open until January 31

The application period for the Good Inclusive Practices Award runs until January 31, 2015.This initiative is promoted by the Regional Government with the aim of encouraging and distinguishing project developed in the context of the promotion and integration of migrants and interculturalism.

"There are 3,600 immigrants of 75 different nationalities residing on our islands. The Azores are proud to be a region that welcomes its immigrants, but such cannot mean that we should overlook the specific challenges of these communities. In fact, it is rather an incentive to continue support inclusive practices," said the Regional Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations.

For Rodrigo Oliveira, "it will be beneficial to promote a better and deeper knowledge on the initiatives promoted by several entities in terms of the integration of immigrants and interculturalism, which is the purpose of the initiative developed by the Azorean Government."
Applications for the Good Inclusive Practices Award may be submitted by school establishments, private companies, associations and media bodies headquartered in the Region. Each entity has the possibility to submit more than one project.

The projects eligible for this award can be submitted by the institutions that have developed them, but also by people or entities that were the subject of the projects or that became acquainted with the initiative.

Those who are interested may submit the applications until January 31, 2015. The application form is available on the page of the Regional Directorate for Communities on the Regional Government Portal at www.azores.gov.pt. All applications must be accompanied by evidence demonstrating the implementation of the project.

The applications submitted in Portuguese should be sent via email to the address [email protected] or to the Regional Directorate for Communities at the following addresses: Colónia Alemã, Edifício do Relógio, Apartado 96, 9900-014 Horta, Rua do Palácio, 9700-143 Angra do Heroísmo or Rua Professor Alfredo Bensaúde, n.º 6, R/C, 9500 –700 Ponta Delgada.
