Paulo Teves visits Azorean communities in Canada

The Regional Director for Communities, Paulo Teves, starts on Wednesday, February 20, a visit to the Azorean communities residing in Canada to reinforce partnerships and monitor the work carried out by Azorean associations.

On the first day of his visit, Paulo Teves will meet with the Mission Sainte-Croix in Montreal, followed by meetings with the Consul General of Portugal in Montreal, Fernando Demée de Brito, and the Counsellor for Communities, Clementina Santos Vieira.

On the same day, Paulo Teves will meet with the chairman and CFO of Caisse d' Économie des Portugais de Montreal, Emanuel Linhares and Jacinta Amâncio, respectively. The government official also has scheduled meetings with the board of the House of the Azores of Quebec and with several bodies from the Azorean community residing in this Canadian province.

On the following day, the Regional Director for Communities will travel to city of Winnipeg, where he will meet with the Honorary Consul of Portugal, Paulo Jorge Cabral, and the board of the House of the Azores. The government official also participates in a gathering with the Azorean community residing in Manitoba to take place on Thursday night.

On February 22, Paulo Teves will travel to Vancouver, where he will meet with Carlos Sousa Amaro, Consul General of Portugal in this city. He has scheduled meetings with the Amigos do Pico and Chamarrita do Pico Groups.

On the fourth day of his visit to Canada, the Regional Director for Communities will participate in a meeting at the House of the Azores of Ontario in Toronto and the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Clube Asas do Atlântico.

On 24 February, Paulo Teves meets with the Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario and the board of the House of the Azores of Ontario.
The last day of his visit to Canada includes a meeting with the Consul General of Portugal in Toronto, Julio Vilela, followed by meetings with Abrigo Centre, Working Women Community Centre, Federation of Luso-Canadian Entrepreneurs and LIUNA Local 183.

The visit of the Regional Director for Communities to Canada allows monitoring the work and activities developed by several Azorean associations and other bodies towards the integration of our communities in this country, thus enhancing the implementation of projects and partnerships that disseminate the cultural identity of the Azores in the Diaspora communities.
