Isabel Rodrigues highlights dynamism of youth associations on Flores and Corvo

The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stressed today the "dynamism" of youth associations on Flores and Corvo, highlighting the number of associations that were created on these islands and the "commitment" that they demonstrate in the development of relevant opportunities to youngsters and the community.

Isabel Rodrigues met with youth associations of Flores and Corvo as well as with the heads of Groups 691 and 1181 of the National Scouts Corp under the Government's statutory visit to these islands. The government official stressed the role played youth associations in "encouraging youth civic participation."

"We took to the opportunity to exchange on the wide range of programmes that the Government of the Azores has developed for youth associations and youth in general. It was a very useful time to exchange views and to work with the participating associations," said the government official.

The Regional Secretary also chaired the opening of "Corvo de outros tempos," an exhibition organised by the local Youth Association. She praised the event for being a collection of "artefacts and tools used that were used in local economic activities in the past."

"This project is an opportunity for younger generations to learn how things were done in the past and an important work to preserve the memory of their island and their community," stressed Isabel Rodrigues.
