Entrepreneurial education to reach 12 thousand young Azoreans, announces Berto Messias

The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs highlighted the commitment of the Azorean Government to measures that promote an entrepreneurial and proactive culture, announcing that the "Entrepreneurial Education - the Path to Success" programme will reach about 12 thousand young Azoreans."

"Entrepreneurial Education" is a programme developed in Azorean schools that aims to not only promote an entrepreneurial culture oriented towards an entrepreneurial component, but above all, an entrepreneurial culture towards life and the community," stated Berto Messias. The government official spoke Saturday in Praia da Vitória at the opening of the conference "Make It Happen Talks," organised by André Leonardo with the partnership of the Regional Directorate for Youth.

"The creation of companies and subsequent job creation are fundamental. However, we want above all a proactive approach to life that manifests itself in a wide variety of forms, namely in party organisations as well as in social, sporting, cultural or religious organisations," said the Regional Secretary.

In his speech, he stressed that "the more participatory a community, the greater the economic and social development."

Berto Messias also mentioned the pertinent choice of the venue, considering that "the organisation of an event aimed at generating debates and ideas for the future, with striking and inspiring personalities, in Praia da Vitória, makes all sense, bearing in mind the challenge that this municipality is facing."

"The Government of the Azores will continue at the forefront of defending our interests on the impact of reductions at Lajes Air Base. The way we have managed to solve direct labour issues and the series of measures that we have already implemented and that contribute to more economic dynamics, such as the coming of the low cost airlines to Terceira or the incentives to the business activity we are providing, are proof of this," said the government official.

"But if there is a lot of work done, there is still a lot to do in the use and promotion of existing infrastructures. We will continue this work with hard work and the uncompromising defence of our interests, both with the National and U.S. Governments," said Berto Messias.

"The challenges are great, both here in Praia da Vitória and in the Azores, but do not doubt that the Regional Government makes it happen every day by working, innovating, creating and continuing the path of growth and economic and social evolution, but, for that, we need everyone and we are counting on everyone," said the Regional Secretary.
