In order to promote the expansion of sustainable tourism, the Government of the Azores will promote the fifth edition of the "Miosotis Azores" award, which is open, for the first time, to local accommodation. The application period will run until October 19.

The prizes and certificates awarded by "Miosotis Azores," which currently distinguishes 57 tourist accommodations in the archipelago, represent more than 25% of the hotel supply in the Region. They are aimed at all regional accommodation units that implement good environmental practices, except camping parks.

Following a policy of support and awareness-raising, this award intends to enhance regional accommodation units and is free. It is promoted by the Regional Secretariats for Agriculture and the Environment and Tourism and Transport.

The "Miosotis Azores" award assigns several levels of recognition to regional tourist accommodations for their good environmental behaviour, implemented in several areas, particularly in terms of resource savings, proper waste management and local enhancement.
