The President of the Government visited today the new premises of the Home Support Services of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Santa Cruz das Flores. This investment ensured all the conditions to serve 30 elderly people and included the expansion of the of the institution's nursing home, which will now have another 18 beds.
 
After visiting the new facilities, which represented an investment over two million Euros, Vasco Cordeiro accompanied the delivery of meals by the Home Support Services in the town of Santa Cruz das Flores. The institution now has a new kitchen built from scratch to serve various services.
 
Speaking to journalists, the President of the Government praised the importance of the daily work carried out by the 40 Home Support Services, which have the capacity to support approximately 3,000 elderly people throughout the Region, an annual investment of nearly four million Euros.
 
"Having safeguarded all the safety conditions of the elderly and their autonomy to stay in their residence, we believe that this is a solution that responds to their concerns," says Vasco Cordeiro.
 
The President of the Government also stressed that the service provided by the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" is, thus, a "good example of what many other institutions are doing on all islands of the Region."
 
"In this specific case, the Home Support Service has a capacity to serve about 30 users. This was one of the fundamental aspects in the investment made here, at the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Santa Cruz das Flores. This two million-Euro investment included the component of home support services as well as the expansion of the elderly home," said the government official.
 
According to Vasco Cordeiro, the Regional Government is undertaking an effort to make full use of this availability to serve about three thousand users, but also to expand this service in the Region, which is mainly provided to the elderly.
 
"We are committed to undertaking these efforts in the future," the President of the Government said, noting that the partnership established every day with more than two hundred "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" institutions and Private Social Solidarity Institutions allow us to provide services 700 services in the most varied áreas.
