The Pico Museum promotes, on 19th, the presentation of the book “The Portuguese Shore Whalers of California 1854-1904”, by David E. Breton, a publication referring to the presence of Portuguese Whalers in that North American state.
The ceremony is directed by Tony Goulart, an emigrant of São Caetano of Pico, resident more than three decades ago in the United States and co-founder of the Portuguese Heritage Publications of California.
The presentation is set for 21.30 o’clock, in the Auditorium of the Whalers Museum, in Lajes do Pico.
The publisher of the book, with seat in São José, is a communitarian volunteers association, without profitable gains, which finality consists in investigating, documenting, preserving and disseminating the history of the Portuguese presence in that state.
In somewhat more than half a ten of years, this organization already published four research works on the Portuguese in different North American sectors of expansion.
