Fifty European youngsters to start traineeships in the Azores

Two new groups of trainees from European countries will soon start their traineeships in the Azores under the Eurodyssey and Leonardo da Vinci programmes.

These youngsters will stay in the Region for the next six months. The first month will be exclusively dedicated to the learning of the Portuguese language and culture and the remaining months to the traineeship in an actual work environment. These traineeships will cover the following areas: sales, tourism, biology and environment, communication and audiovisuals, graphic design, tourism, art and culture and social intervention.

The 46 youngsters will start their traineeships in the Azores. These groups are composed of students from France (regions of Franche-Comté and Rhône Alps), Belgium (regions of Brussels-Capital and Wallonia), Spain (regions of Catalonia, Valencian Community and Murcia), Croatia (region of Sibenik-Knin), Romania (region of Harghita) and Italy (region of Umbria).

Trainees will be welcomed by the Regional Director for Employment and Vocational Training, Ilda Baptista, on Friday, June 21, at 11 AM.

Eurodyssey is an exchange programme of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) that promotes traineeships abroad for a period between three and seven months. This initiative is targeted at youngsters between 18 and 30 who are looking for a job.

This programme aims to provide youngsters with professional experience and simultaneously give them the opportunity to learn a foreign language or improve their knowledge of it.

In turn, the Leonardo da Vinci programme is an initiative developed by the European Union with the aim of encouraging transnational cooperation in a professional context, always taking into account the specificities of each Member State. This programme also intends to promote innovation and disseminate the best of each of them.
