Azorean Government to launch 350 applications in the Regional Public Administration

The Vice-President of the Government announced in Horta that the Government of the Azores "will launch 350 new applications" for the recruitment of personnel in the Regional Public Administration.

"Given that the Regional Public Administration currently has 253 workers aged 65 and over and another 111 workers aged 60 and over who are on a long-term sick leave, I would like to announce that the Regional Government will launch this year 350 new applications," said Sérgio Ávila at the Legislative Assembly.

Speaking under the debate on the proposals for Medium-Term Guidelines 2017-2020 and the Plan and Budget for this year, the government official stressed that this measure aims to "address in advance the staff needs arising from the retirement processes that will occur in coming months."

Of these applications, 114 vacancies correspond to the position of operational assistants for regional schools," said Sérgio Ávila.

"With this new measure, we will reinforce the stability of the Regional Public Administration, ensure its rejuvenation and create the conditions for the provision of more efficient and high quality public services to the Azorean population," said the government official.

The Vice-President of the Government also assured that the Budget proposal for 2017 "includes a rule that ensures the full compliance with the commitment taken by the President of the Government at this Assembly towards the integration of workers hired on fixed-term contract for two years or providing services for a period of three years into the Regional Public Administration."

In his speech, the government official pointed out that the Regional Public Administration had 333 more workers last year compared to end of 2014. He added that the new measures determined by the Azorean Government strengthen "the stability of the Regional public Administration and "create" more conditions for the provision of more efficient and high quality services to the Azorean population."
